Game breaking issue as far as I'm concerned, and something I earnestly hope you're going to prioritize fixing for launch.
My research has led me to the conclusion that no item is safe outside of a platform.
I had thought then that all vehicles are unsafe unless they are parked on the black surface that you spawn upon at game start. I found that not to be the case as my buggy was missing again upon revisiting that base it was parked on at the equator upon returning from the south pole.
So if its not a platform or an item locked upon a platform (containers are not safe alone) it isn't safe when you save and leave game, leave the area or leave the planet.
I believe this can all be fixed though to an extent by giving other items the same coding that platforms receive or either changing the order in which a game world loads and saves.
Or give us snap to grid floors for our bases that treat everything above them as a platform.
I have not had my rover fall through as of yet but yes the buggy is gone again.
On a side note, I cannot drive my rover backwards. Forwads and sideways? Works great. Backwards? Nope.
Yeah, but "Automation is coming to Astroneer"
