nope it crashed an hour and a half later....
I just moved the files to a new dir.
Tested all videos and they work just fine, so it looks like it's the video player they use, to play various animations throughout the game, including the loading screen, that's causing both the memory leak and lag. Get rid of the videos and there's nothing to play, and nothing that can cause it to fail.
It's a temporary fix, but at least we now know how to get around the bug.
The bug came with 1.0.7, so you'll find that it'll happen sooner or later, if you use that version.
