Wind turbine not working in in parts of the base.
Wind turbine not working in in parts of the base.

I just made my turbine and noticed that it does not work in some places of the base despite the wind is blowing. I can pick it up and move it around and notice that it does work as I hover it over some parts of the base but not others.

I cross checked with a solar panel and noticed no problems with the solar panel so the bug may only be with the turbine.

I can pick it up and see that it is spinning (while the object is hovering) in some parts of the base but suddenly stops working in others. Then starts up when moved back.

As far as I am aware that's actually not exactly a bug, but rather the way this system currently works (I played around with that a bit). The spacing between each "field" is quite small and the wind does not really care about neighboring "fields", so it often can happen that a wind turbine spins but one right next to it doesn't. This constantly changes, so no turbine stays still forever, unless it's obstructed by something.
But yeah, while it doesn't seem to be an actual bug, it's certainly something that needs to be improved!

yes

Wind nodes are long streaks that move across the planet slowly, it is entirely possible for a spot on the planet to never have wind. Wind is also altitude dependant, if your node is too low and the wind goes over it and touches other wind turbines that are higher, it may appear as if that node is broken. If you have a hill near your base the turbines closest to that hill may not receive wind.
Since you checked that node with a solar panel it isn't a broken node(not sure if the unconnected node bug still exists) so your wind turbine either isn't high enough to touch the wind or wind hasn't moved through that location yet.

This may be a 'feature'; the wind does not blow everywhere.

There is still a bug with the turbine though. When one of the too many storms go across your base, the turbine doesn't move in that very strong wind. So, the base is not generating power from that event.

In early builds the turbines spun in storms but then they did 'something' and they stopped working. They've indicated that they're going to fix that in the last podcast.
FYI: we use what's called a Darrius Turbine.
But just for reference, wind turbines in the real world lock down during storms or they could do stuff like this:

Oh, I know about wind turbines destroying themselves in storms due to overspin, but the little one we have in the game would be fine.
