Look for a new tree that looks like it has a green flower close to it's base. Hold F to harvest it for the seed(s) if you want to make a factory of it close to base.
You can also attach it to pretty much anything you can grow from a seed - mutant flora, pumpkins from the Halloween event, etc. Hover over the plant, and if you can tap it, the tooltip will mention producing organic with a tapper.
However, keep in mind that, as far as I can tell, once a tapper has been placed on a harvestable plant, you can't get it off again without destroying the plant.
Really? I've only been able to pick up a tapper if it's on a plant that's not eligible for tapping.... Maybe it's something wonky in my game.
I don't see a lock option, regardless of what plant they're on....
BTW, for those that don't know yet, the plant on Atrox produces organic at the fastest speeds and Sylva is the slowest.
Interesting. I've only tapped one tree one tree on Sylva and have a setup to fill a container. I this one tapper gets me all the organic I need at this point in my game. But I've not made tons and tons of automated setups yet. Still setting up the last couple of basic resource automation, still need sapherite, clay, graphite, and quartz. Can't see a need for lots of organic other than maybe power gen on Atrox since solar and wind stink. Is there a need for that much organic production that I'm missing?
Organic is used to make carbon, which is used in many composite materials such as steel. You will probably want quite a bit of carbon later in the game. It has been IMO the worst resource to keep in stock up to now, since the best way to get it was digging dirt and using the soil centrifuge. So I am very happy with the tapper!
Thanks, that worked! I immediately added an auto-arm to mine, so I never had it in the "done collecting" stage when trying to move it...
