Thoughts after finishing Glitchwalkers [SPOILERS]
-Story
It's ok at best, not really anything to discuss about it. It's a decent first attempt at having an antagonist in Astroneer. Although having more NPC's would have been cool. The lore building is really well done, I love all the subtle hints of something bigger being at play

-Gameplay
Yea. I got issues.
Taking away all my stuff especially when I have a full endgame save, locking things behind the "hacked" mechanic, and making the Storm Protection essentially a waiting game grind really put a damper on things.
DLC is usually meant to be played with all of a player's existing gear unless it's an entirely new experience. Which this was not. I essentially played Astroneer again but on a single planet instead of multiple. Don't get me wrong, Aeoluz is massive and a really unique planet. But when I already have the gear to have an enjoyable story experience and then you take it all away is a massive annoyance. In addition locking things in the Research Catalog behind Blitz hacking it kinda just made my eyes roll, I was forced to play the game the way SA wanted me to play it. Not the Astroneer exploration way. How am I meant to enjoy a new planet when I am locked from doing certain things? It's just dumb.
The return of Storms is a welcome comeback, I love them in the base game, but I wish they were handled differently. The time it take to get a full Hack effect needs to be greatly increased. Let me spend more time in these things! They're cool!
However, on Aeoluz, it's way too tedious. It becomes a waiting game to get full protection and the initial protection you get for each Storm needs to be adjusted, it's so short that I barely have any time to actually get my stuff set up to get more Data for more protection! And after that, it's still the waiting game. Wait to get more protection. That's it. And if a Hotspot despawns, just wait til is reappears. Moving to another one more often than not is not worth it because you'll just die.
Visibility also should be reduced by a tad, it is REALLY hard to see in these storms. It shouldn't be this bad.

All in all the DLC is ok. It's not game changing but I like how SA is experimenting with things.
The biggest gripe I have is that the cosmetic pack costs almost as much as the DLC...
Yea I'm not buying that. Are you kidding me?

I agree with you. The planet is really very big and most of my time spent on the journey to the next storm and to get the next root. The visibility in the storm really hurt. There are hostile plants in there and I couldn't see where are they at all and yup i died, running all the way from the base. It is not a good experience. The Level 1 protection is really too short, especially if the nearest hot spot is so deep inside.. am i playing an action game? Lol....

Well, the puzzles are enjoyable...i guess this is the only fun part...

I had a similar situation this morning. I drove to the Delta storm and was looking for the best way to pave a bridge up to the area where we collect the resource stuff and didn't notice a cataplant hidden in some other stuff. So it shot the first M80 at me and I insta panicked and hit a number key instead. So now here I am doing a happy dance and unable to move. By the time the dance was half over, the cataplant spit another 2 M80s at me. BOOM. Dead. Not thrilled in the slightest and thinking great, now I need to build another vehicle to get all the way backover there. Instead, I just made a bunch of filters and hoofed it on feet. It was faster than all the building and setting up of a vehicle plus I didn't have to worry about sticking to the path I made. I could travese the tough terrain easier on foot.

I should have all the missions completed tonight. WooHoo.

When you get to the core and complete the mission and get the cosmetics, that is the end right? There's no interactive systems in the core or anything, no credits? I made a ship just to see if I could get back to my original universe but it's just an empty solar system.

the planet is the only really neat part. its large and at least somewhat challenging. the rest really shows a lack of effort in its design. astroneer is a very chill game and thats literally the only thing that saves the DLC from being a failure.

i heard about the storms and i was expecting the storms to be like from the alpha days....not these limited bubbles, that you cant see in.

Nothing beyond the final mission. No credits and no secrets as far as I could see/find. Nothing in the core besides talking to Frank. It's the single planet solar system

Honestly, I didn't find the planet challenging, just a slog to get through. It might have been just how my Aeoluz generated, but I hardly faced hazards. I didn't enjoy playing Astroneer AGAIN to get some cosmetics at the end. I enjoy playing Astroneer because I enjoy playing it, not because I have to play it the way System Era wants me to.

The storms not being from the Alpha is something I actually liked. It's their own personal twist on them. The way they went about executing them, leaves much to be desired. I would have liked some cubes/debris being flung at me occasionally. Not a status effect with a time gate that kills me if it gets full. They really need to tone down how difficult it is to see in the storms, a worklight helps a ton just as a quick FYI, but half the time I can barely figure out where I am in the storm. With the status effect included, it sometimes becomes sheer panic. And that's really not fun

Sadly i own a DLC i can't access. Finished the quest, placed the portal and didn't like how far resources were from me so i exited out and deleted the DLC save and got back into my regular save to hop back through the Portal. Only the portal is a one time use and Now i can never finish the DLC. :(
