I think it's a great game to spend some time in co-op, exploring, mining, researching and organizing production / building bases. All of these mechanics are quite simple, but they play together well. I would describe this game as quite fun, enjoyable and easy-going experience. The game looks quite good, and there's a kind of "space exploration" feel. There's a lot of opportunities for co-op, mostly in the sense that you can split tasks between the team members.
There's a limit to replayability though, because the world is procedurally-generated, but it doesn't have much inherent depth to it. Some people keep playing it, building stuff, min-maxing, and doing all the EXO missions, but idk, after completing the game I honestly have better things to do/play.
Some people say there are nasty bugs, but we only encountered one or two.
Also I haven't played the DLC, so can't say anything about it.
All in all I think you won't regret, it's a nice experience, but it has its limit.
Mechanics are planet dependant so to speak, each planet has a few specific resources and some general resources, you travel to them with rockets that improve with research that you either find roaming the world, or find roaming the world and bring to the base for research. You need to research new devices to allow actions, improve skills or remove limitations alltogether.
There is a very extensive wiki for the game that has all you need to know minus the new expansion content.
Get it if its cheap, have fun!!
