Access Items in Backpack of different Player

I recently discovered by accident that I can take Items from someone else's backpack. The thing is that it did not work reliably. Sometimes I could take items, sometimes not at all. Do you know how this works and how I can make it so that we can always access each other's backpacks?

Then it is a glitch worth implementing as a feature. I like it!

my friend keeps using this ability to troll me and take stuff out of my inventory while I am playing, I am trying to figure out how he does it.
