Cancel/Stop Dancing?

I was fighting a few rocket plants and I accidentally hit the dance key and My character would not stop dancing and I died. I tried everything I could think of to stop dancing. If there isn't a way to cancel it, please add this feature!!!

Those are called emotes. They're on keys 1|2|3|4 by default. Those keys are close to the Q|W|E keys, so you can hit them by accident easily enough. You can't disable emotes. But you can map them to keys that you'd never accidentally hit. In the game, hit escape and click on options, 6th from left. Scroll down to keyboard settings. Click on each of the 4 emotes and map away.

I know about the emotes, I have since remapped the keys since it happened but my original question is how to cancel the dance in-progress when accidentally pressed?

The Astroneer team does not care about user experience. This is why the default action of the left mouse button is permanently bound to an action that 90% of players will never have any use for, and why you cannot fully unmap any non-essential control. As suggested, just bind the useless emotes to some key you're never going to hit during normal play.

Yoshi is the ungrateful type. Doesn't say thank you. Doesn't acknowledge answer, even when provided on a silver platter. Doesn't follow up by using the steam feature which designates a response as "the answer". I'm done helping him.

My original question was how to cancel an emote/dance in progress. I know about the rest. So I re-read the answer and I still haven't seen an answer to how to cancel it but I believe I read somewhere where it can't be cancelled. So... I don't know? Blah
