I haven't played in a while. But from what I've heard on these community forums, Astroneer is at its end. Event's are becoming hot garbage to squeeze the last bit of value out of the game. Nothing has been done to fix the inherent boredom of the game. And whoever is doing all of this doesn't seem to know how to manage a community.
I remember Astroneer from its early days. Before platforms could be moved independently on the base. When the game still had weather hazards.
The game had and still has so much potential. But the game is finished now. The fun has stopped. A finished game can't be overhauled. It's over.
Maybe I'm being dramatic. Or have come to a conclusion too soon. Either way, it doesn't matter. The game is already over. There's nothing left to do, and people have moved on. And some day, maybe after some months of continued support, so will development.
It's a strange feeling to outlive your favorite games. It becomes a dusty symbol on your top played list. And with nothing to replace it, your library slowly becomes a recollection of a better day. A day that the future will never be able to rival.
While I would not say totally dead... I pretty much agree with you.
