Clay looks like this, the reddish brown lumps. I don't think it's that common, but it is everywhere if you can make a soil centrifuge. That can extract clay from all the soil you dug up.

ok i never seen that ore on the starting green planet
i guess its not possible to unlock the soil machine without ceramic first?
it look an desert biome i never encountred around the starting location
do you certify its on surface and not in deep?

Looks to me like that picture was taken on Desolo. Clay, according to the astropedia, is found on every planet, all I can suggest is to keep looking. Use some of that compound to make a bunch of tethers, you'll find some sooner or later. It can be found on the surface, or at the core, or anywhere in between.

Yeah, that screenshot was on the moon. Here is one on Sylva. It should contrast well against the green. You can also find it underground but it's harder to see I think. The centrifuge is aluminum and compound, not ceramic.

its alrready 15h that i search it since it was requiered for the first mission with upgrade tool1 i have so many storage of various ore including late receipe for peroxyde and i just found graphite
and i canot build anything new for develop my base
i have many resin and composite fields all around and just under tons of glass zinc aluminium
i start to wonder if i must wander in buggy or drill straight down
Alt0153 Nov 28, 2023 @ 2:36pm
its 2 compound and 1 aluminium to build a soil centrifuge and you could have been swimming in clay from that big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the ground

seem the soil centrifuge is locked behind a mission
Alt0153 Nov 28, 2023 @ 2:39pm
have you researched it?

Yeah, that might be. I haven't started a new game for a while so don't remember.

If you have the buggy I would just drive around through the meadows, explore the world. As long as you stay near the buggy you'll have air. Digging down it will be just luck if you find some and you can't see far.

Edit: Did you skip any missions? The one that unlocks the centrifuge is the 6th one. If you have a buggy you're probably past that.

i canot skip the mission but their is some that i just dont understand as finding the origin of the lights or using the exo thing or activating the artifact out of range of something

Part of the game is exploration. A lot of the things you ask about will become clear once you explore more. I'm quite sure people will answer questions, but wouldn't you rather find out for yourself? By the way, you can unlock the Soil Centrifuge via a mission, but if you are desperate to have it, you can spend the 750 bytes to unlock it at any time.

TL;DR: Explore and experiment.

ok i found it at nearly the antipod of the planet and it allowed me to unlock the centrifuge and now i can have unlimited resin composit clay organic with soil
their was no way to unlock it for octets
if it was possible i get it in the first hours
i unlocked everything else horn and thruster and the tools modifier that proved of no use to me
yes my fault i prefered to play helm deep than buggy race

Clay for me is also next to impossible to find, for the mission to unlock the centrifuge however once I find it and no longer need it, it is everywhere.

i missed their was tab in research it not helped me
yes with centrifuge all outputed become a ground inconivence
at my opinion ts not encourage to continue minig of theses

clay is INCREDIBLY rare and scarce, and its kinda funny just how long it can take you to find it compared to, oh yknow, titanite, hematite, wolframite, the high end ores found in abundance on the right planet
