Stuck in core
Anyone else get stuck around the core of the planet surrounded by high cliffs that don't connect to the next layer so there's no way to tunnel out? That's bad level design.

you need to build ramps
Lil Puppy Feb 16, 2019 @ 4:44pm
If you're at the core of the planet you just need to jump on the 'spires' that come out of it and walk to the inner layer and then ramp your way out once you get up to the next level of dirt.

My canisters were empty. You shouldn't be able to get somewhere that you can't get out of without dying.

The core is empty area with an alien machine in the center (gateway), you jump onto the spires coming out of the 8 corners/sides and walk to the dirt, you then find a hole or dig through it to an open cave, at that point you just do what you normally do to get back to the surface, suck up dirt, make ramp. Find resin to supplement your O2 supply with filters and you win. Resin is everywhere.

It's a silly question, but you know that you can teleport to the surface, right?

I'm not sure how you could possibly get "stuck". Gravity is ten kinds of wonky in the *actual* core.. assuming that's what you're talking about. Almost every surface you see is "down" if you're on it. You can walk right up "walls".

You can even drive a rover down the large spires and get it right onto the core. I tunneled several large rovers right down to the spires and drove straight to the core. You can't seem to actually get the rover onto the central platform though, as gravity just won't pull it that way.

My rover with the drill is stuck. I'm surrounded by spires that end in drop offs back to the ground surrounding the core. Ramps don't work, I guess I could teleport out and just package my RTG and build a new rover.

oh yeah, with a rover? ive only taken one rover to a core, never again. i did repack everything i could from it, so it wasnt a huge loss.

I guess I never thought of just walking down there....*shrug* LOL

It's a pain in the butt to get rovers out, yeah, but you just gotta build ramps with the terrain tool. I wish there was a way to build ramps from the rover, so I didn't have to get out so often. Mostly because that seems to trigger the unresponsive/heavy rover bug and it slides down the ramp giving me a heart attack until I pull the seat off.

to add to/combine what the people above have said:

the gravity is weird in the core (also called a gateway engine) the large pillers that go out from the core are able to be walked on

(in-fact that is the best way to get to the core, just tunnel down till you find one/ get to the big hollow space and make a platform to one and walk "down" and continue useing the tether line to breath)

also if you have the right item (it depends on the planet) you can stick it into a slot and something will be made which if taken to the other side and placed in the slot will make a orb come out (like the ones you find in the weird purple surface things (also called gateway chambers)

you can use that orb to teleport to the surface chamber and back whenever you want

(the items needed for each engine i know of are as follows:the starting planet needs quartz, its moon needs zinc, the exotic planet needs Graphene and its moon needs silicone)

hope that helps (but you probly got past it or died by now so it probly did not)

*headscratch* I don't see the problem. Are we talking the alien structure spires, or the spires just outside the core?

I brought my rover down there with a giant ramp made from the surface the first time and even made a ramp for it to manipulate the gavity changes and drive into the core. Also if the canisters are empty while making ramps, why not just fill them nearby on the spot?

I just build the medium rover thing and repackage the RTG and Drill. The rovers are easy enough to build. I did build a ramp to get out of Glacio when my lvl 1 drill didn't work. Some of the interiors are too difficult for ramps

I'm in the Novus Core right now but theres no spires for me to walk on. is this supposed to happen?
