Through the Looking Glass reward

Is there actually any way to get the reward for this quest and keep playing, or is it game over when you activate the center stone on the satellite?

You will eventually see the credits rolling after completing the game. Then you will be teleported back to your home base on Sylva and you can continue to play as you wish.
