Honestly, I get that Astroneer is going for an "exploration gameplay"-thing, but I think it takes it's lack of guidance about devices to the extreme. Things like this, where it's impossible to figure out what the game wants you to do without outside help, is exactly the sort of thing that will turn people away from an otherwise-promising game.
