I think the Christmas Event is still going on, but you may want to skip working on those events because it will be ending soon and you probably won't get very far.
Try this vid. I'm at work and can't really watch the vid, but One Last Midnight is really good.

In any event, if you screw up, you can always start another game. As a matter of fact, go into this KNOWING that your first game will probably not be your last. So be sure to treat your first game as a test game that will be trashed soon enough.
I might even suggest starting a Creative game so you don't have to worry about oxygen, but that may learn you bad habits that will hinder you later.
1. Explore in all 3 directions: out, down, and up. You want to see what's on the surface, what's below the surface (including way, way below), and (once you unlock spaceships), what's on other planets.
2. Tether networks can extend forever; besides providing oxygen, they also help keep you from getting lost.
3. Investigate anything you haven't seen before. Hover your mouse over items and resources to get a descriptive tooltip.
4. Check the Astropedia to see the different planets and what you can find there. Check the Research Catalog to see what you can (eventually) build. Prioritize researching things that are cheap to unlock and use resources you have already found.
5. Always have something running in the research chamber; you will need a lot of bytes to unlock everything. You can get progressively better research objects on more difficult planets.
And power; for the longest time I undervalued power in the backpack, opting out of terrain tool mods or liberal use of the printer. Both can be very useful (like printing small canisters while mining resin, if you've got a soil centrifuge), but you'll either need tethers or a generator or something to make it work.
**My medium printer doesn't have a Smelting Furnace in the list and in my research module I cant find the Smelting Furnace ??**
okay ... I figured it out .. I need to research the furnace on the Medium Printer :D
FYI you can press F1 and access the help menu. It will tell you that aluminium is Laterite once smelted and that Laterite is found on the every planet.
It should also show you how to operate the smelting furnace and research chamber.
Edit: And yeah it's not the best
Might need to refund? It looks like a cute game, but the devs don't want you to know how to play it? >,< /sadpanda
When you first enter a new game, you have very little resources or tools. You need to gather resin and compound right off the bat so you can make platforms, printers and tethers. Tethers will allow you to roam around and still have access to the base's oxygen and power. You can see your oxygen level on the top of your backpack. It's a blue horizontal gauge that counts down right to left. You can also use resin to craft oxygen cells instead of using tethers.
Try the Astroneer Wiki to help you better understand the game better.
