Moding support/Steam workshop integration
Will modding support with Steam Workshop will ever happen?

It would be nice for the convenience and automatic mod updates, for sure. The few mods available are nice though and until Workshop support arrives it's not much work to change to the new version.

no, because they care about profit at this point, the store would become pointless as people could create anything and add anything to a game about creating anything.

Yes, but it would also add lifespan to the game. Intergration mod support will greatly increase the longevity of a game. Take for example Minecraft, the game was kept alive thru mod support.

I wonder if having mod support would bring in more people to play, thus driving sales?

In other words would mod support have brought in more $$$ than the store?

Yeah thats what I was trying to say. Mod support would make the game infnitly replayable.

The only guess I can make is that adding a store was way easier and cheaper than adding a workshop with mod support.

hardly. workshop intergration is virtually zero work. you literally just use the steam templates or the automatic intergrater if your using something like unity. and steam handles everything workshop and download wise. they just have to handle a tick the box to load mods. and they dont even have to do that. they can just load everything in the folder and let workshop do literally everything like some games do. workshop support is a million times easier then setting up a currency system. setting up a store. setting up and meeting the requirements to take and handle cash, setting up the points management system and so on. they just dont want people to be able to do what ever they want.

most likely. there is a menality i've noticed though i dont agree with it, is people will buy some games simply because with mods its enjoyable. a few early access flops saw some resurgence because its remaining modding community put out some fixes and decent content to add. i myself wouldn't buy a game unless the base content was already enjoyable, making the mods extra flavor rather than a requirement.

for this game, really its only fault is the store front layout, if they did DLC packs for a bundle of cosmetics, those would sell more often and there wouldnt be much to complain about. the actual game itself does get boring after awhile, but mods could potentially expand this out and keep it interesting at end game.

modding is something i'm all for on this title, but as someone anchored in reality, there are no signs pointing to them ever doing it now.

I really dislike the shop to be honest.

In my opinion, DLC + Workshop Mod support would have been way more fun, earned more $$$ for System Era, and greatly extended the replay value of astroneer.
