what does the recycle button do on a thing

so i accedentaly made aluminum aloy instead of titanium, and when i pressed e on accedent a recycle button glowed, what is this?

Sounds like you're referring to Chemistry Lab. Turning on that repeat button gets the lab to keep making the selected target resource, if you provide ingredient resources on its platform or from your backpack (when dialog open). Other machines that have a repeat button are: printers, atmo condensers, and soil centrifuges. You can also toggle any repeat button by pressing E, when the dialog is open. Other machines don't have a repeat button, because they always repeat: smelters, shredders, resource chambers, extractors, and auto arms.

Yeh that'll be the repeat button. Especially useful on condensers when you plug a medium gas can into them.

What would you expect "recycle" to mean on a chem lab dialog?
The only Astroneer recycling I know about is a shredder plus a trade platform.
