Is it possible to play cross platform from Xbox to Steam without a server

yeah, in normal play one of the two players become the host and the other joins them simple as that. though i was unaware of crossplay on this title but it wouldnt surprise me. gotta get that cosmetic market in front of as many gullible faces as possible.

I hate to be this guy, but from what I've read the answer is no. Astroneer does not have an ingame friend/tag system that could facilitate this or "enter code to join game" type thing unfortunately.

The only way to cross-play between Xbox and PC is if you bought astroneer from the microsoft store. The in-game friends list is only your friends from that specific platform.
