Why don't we have a schematic for the QT-RTG?
I found the QT-RTG one the best useful items. You definitely want one on your backpack if you are going to use the hoverboard. The hoverboard will drain your backpack power supply really quick when using the hoverboard. Be nice if I could make some more.

The problem with the QT-RTGs is that they are really overpowered.
A normal RTG needs Lithium and Nanocarbon alloy to make and uses a Tier-2 socket and produces 4 Units of Energy per second. So you already need high tier resources (like Lithium, Helium, Iron, Titanium) to produce this.
A QT-RTG produces 1 Unit of Energy per second but only uses a Tier-1 socket. So you can use a medium storage to get one Tier-2 socket into 8 Tier-1 sockets and with 8 QT-RTGs you produce as much energy as with 2 regular RTGs while using half the space.
Thus if you want to make a QT-RTG craftable you want to have the player need even higher tier resources for that. However, you can not really go much higher than what a RTG needs. And since it is an Item that uses a Tier-1 socket you can only have the player use a maximum of 2 items to print.

QT-RTG are perfect for powering up buggies, medium rovers, the backpack, and maybe last resort power for equipment (like soil centrifuge, printers, etc.). Take up less space on vehicles when I am out pick up stuff. I am always needing more space. I think them are needed to be a craftable item.

That is the problem. How do you make a more powerfull RTG (the QT-RTG) harder to get with only 2 resources when the regular RTG is already the most difficult to craft from the needed resources?

I didn't think it was that hard to craft the RTGs. There are some places that I have them up and running and are places where they are not needed. I definitely need to use QT-RTGs on buggies and medium rovers and on my backpack if I am planning on using hoverboard. Do you see problem with nuclear reactors, someone is suggesting put them in the game.

Eh, I only have a use for 2, one on my backpack for the portable oxygenator, and one on my large rover. Don't really need more OP power sources in the late game.

The problem would be: How do you want to make these (with what resources)? How big would it be and what would be the power output? And since a nuclear reactor produces waste, should this put in the game too? And if so, would it cause damage when coming close? How would you dispose of that? Do you need to constantly feed it resources to keep it working?
These are the questions that need to be answered when you want to add something like this into the game. And this is the problem with many suggestions I see: No thought was spent on these questions. Sure, you can just implement it somehow but then you will face the mass of complaints that it is overpowered/underpowered/too tedious to do/too complicated to do/too easy to do.

We have waited since pre 1.0 for a larger wind turbine and just got it. The only way I can see a true "nuclear reactor" is via mods. The devs have said before that they will not be adding Planets / Moons. In order to have a true nuclear reactor they will need to add a whole new set of resources and that will mean a whole new planet or set of planets/moons.

I agree with wolfgang about the QT-RTG. There is no way to make it both balanced and yet printable. If you want more of them you can always switch to creative and give yourself as many as you like. I beat the game right after 1.0 without a QT-RTG so they are not needed to play.

You could include an EXO chip in the recipe. That would probably discourage mass producing them?

Not really. To get EXO Chips you need explosive powder which is easy to get (2 carbon + sulfur). The rest is just looking on your compas and finding it. Not that difficult TBH.

exochips fused with nanocarbon alloy and then that fused with lithium and then titanium. the resulting alloy will print a single QT-RTG. maybe have the labs throw in a few gasses you find only on 1 world like helium and argon during these material fusion processes.
