Which planet has the most research?
There's 2 categories, the pops that repeat, and the lab resource.
I'm thinking, seeing that the first moon has nearly 100 and big tech amounts, that's the place.

Atrox SEEMS like the logical guess for the planet with the best research, which is technically true since the research per item is indeed the highest, but most players including myself agree that Glacio is the best place to gather mass research.

The reason for this that cave layer of this planet has quite a lot of small research just lying around on the stalagmites. And if you manage to set up a 2-4 research chamber array and the power to supply it, you will also find lots of large research literally sitting on stone pedestals in the cave as well.

So while I can confirm I can rack up 1000's of bytes on the 1st moon, I never leave Glacio with less than 10K+ research just from strolling through the caves on my previously set up tether line.

i'm guessing it'd be Atrox. but i wouldnt go there asap, it is the highest difficulty planet afterall.

Just go to Glacio.

One thing you can also do is set up an automated byte farm on Glacio (or any planet really) similar to this:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2235603564

Auto arm on the left of the screen grabs samples and feeds the research chamber. You don't necessarily need as many wind turbines and medium batteries, I was just testing what it toook to keep it powered 100% of the time. You can use an RTG of course, but this setup can be made pretty early on with basic resources for wind turbines and medium batteries. The batteries are just there to help when there is no wind. You can even use small wind turbines if you want.

The research samples respawn every few minutes and you also get about 3 times more bytes by placing them in a research chamber than consuming them on the spot (~1100 vs 300-400). Just make sure you place it next to the rocks that have 2-3 samples on them rather than single ones, for more uptime.

This way, you'll have a constant byte income for the rest of the game. I have 2 of these in the first cave layer on Glacio. I made a fresh save and was able to set up a basic version of this in about an hour next to the first byte "bush" I found a few feet away from my base on Sylva. I just connected it to my base for power in that case. That way I could spend all my time on gathering resources and just buy the modules I need when available.

nifty, i need to mess with more of the automated stuff. could run something similar with an autominer at the bottom layer of any planet and some wind turbines and batteries. mine up that pink rainbowy research gold and it'll prolly last a long time, and no down time!

i might try that when i get to goin off the 2nd moon im on now.
