Early game, prepare diamond bits. Liberal use of shrink wrappers is key to advancing quickly.
Lots of people play the game blind. I got to the core of Sylva before I even knew there were gateways on the ground just because I was curious what would happen if I dug down far enough. I started to notice the gravity was changing which piqued my interest and there was huge plants on the lower levels, so I kept going. Was also really difficult for me to get out.
It's not like the game exactly tells you what to do lol, which is one of the awesome things about the game. The only real spoiler I took before I "beat" the game was look up what each resource the engine took to activate after I went to the 2nd engine and couldn't activate it.
activate one surface gateway closest to your base, bring a tractor, a generator of some sort typically a small wind turbine and a organic burner work, and a packager. two materials for the gateway should also be brought if this is a first visit on the file.
drill down to each layer being careful not to fall into a group of deadly plant traps, using the tractor as an oxygen and power supply. once you reach the gateway and activate it and have everything you need from it there, grab the generators off the tractor and package that thing up, then warp back to the surface, deploy tractor if needed for air and transport.
