Enough content?
I bought the game a while ago, because of the lack of content I decided to return it and wait a bit, now I see that it has a good discount and that soon the price will go up because it will come out of EA, the question is: was added enough content to be considered a game worth paying? I mean ... it really seems that the game already has enough to get out of the early access? or is it just a way to attract new players and sell more copies like other games that came out of EA to try to sell even that the game was not finished yet?

NOPE

I don't think so at all. The big building update feels like it took everything that was already there and just spread it out thin to force more planetary exploration. I don't think there's even a point to the game - meaning there's no real end goal or mission to fulfill or even objectives to work for beyond "unlock all the blueprints"
Unless there's some massive content update in the next 3 months, I'll still see it as an unfinished game that's no longer in EA.

Good answer, thanks!

ABSOLUTLY

Figured I'd comment as speedrunner041 isn't qualified to answer you because they don't own the game and commented with a plain NOPE. How would they know? Trolls gotta troll you know.

Below is the current splash screen. Please note the part where it says, "as well as an exploration adventure that spans the entire solar system". We haven't been given everything yet, they are holding back content for 1.0 release. AND development isn't going to stop with 1.0 release. We will get more stuff down the road.

It is interesting and good to know, but it is impossible to me not compare it with subnautica, you had almost all the content in early access and honestly it is hard for me to distrust how much more content the developers can sustain, it is their job and they live on this but ... if the game fails or is not expected? I think nobody can guarantee that the greatest content will appear after its official launch. I want to believe in what I see in your capture, but ... I do not know how to finish what I want to say

It's Early Access.
You either buy into it early and accept the risk of making a "bad" purchase, or you purchase it early and enjoy being someone who supported a game that turned out to be great (and in cases like Astroneer, you also get some exclusive stuff, which would be the Early Access suit).
Astroneer, as a game, is doing fairly well and has good developers behind it. Although none of that changes how subjective opinions are. Some people say the game is not worth it, empty, boring...others find happiness in exploring the possibilities of it's sandbox features, enjoying the game over hundreds of hours by doing things such as sculpting, imposing restrictions to make survival difficult and so on.

In the end, Astroneer is an sandbox game for the most part. If you're looking for raw content that will fascinate you until it's been seen, it may not be a long journey for you.

I like sandboxes, but when there's enough content to entertain me, even a steam workshop helps a lot, if the game lacks content and I can only enjoy the scenery... maybe I'm more inclined to play The Vanishing of Ethan Carter or something similar. Anyway I appreciate the answers, I think I'll wait a little longer to see if the game has a more marked path in the future :steamhappy:

wow hi again!
i am looking forward to get astroneer too, but limited content and sandbox only mode made me cautious about it. time will tell.

Also some astroneer players say that after 20 hours you have nothing new to do, content wise.

the devs said in the Q&A that the final release in february feels more like a sequal to them because of all the SECRET content they are adding. I'd say with directed goals and a lot more control of the machines, most people will find what they thought the early access was missing because people dont seem to realize the early access isnt supposed to be a complete game, just a test platform for physics etc

I personally dont think so but would like to hear what you think.
I wanna have faith. The team was good, only small. They expanded a bit, added things to the game, improved some other things already in the game. They did listen to the community about some things (like reworking the research mechanic). I want to think positive, I think they will release a lot of previously unknown secret content with the 1.0 release which will occupy the empty void the game has right now.

It's like what a lot of people said, we are testing the game engine, we ain't testing the content. The comms guy did say that 1.0 development is going parallel with early access and it will be a whole different game.

Besides, 1)
I already got my money's worth in terms of gameplay hours, which enables me to calm down and not feel cheated in any way, although releasing the game in its current state as 1.0 will hurt System Era's image in my mind, although the game won't be released in its current state it will have more content.
And 2)
They did say that this game will keep being supported with additional content, so it's not like BAM! Released 1.0, we're done, see ya in the next project..

I love the team guys. I wanna believe that they are working on secret stuff behind the scenes and that the game will reach at least some of its potential. Even the fact that the game will recieve content with the launch is proof enough that they are not releasing the game as it is, but only hiding behind that would be setting the bar a bit low and hurt this company's future image. I want them to become like Klei, like Hinterland, like Unknown Worlds. Not some small studio forgotten among the debris because they couldn't build a game to its full potential after a long time's work.

Long post ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I did it again

The game in its current state is not what is being released as 1.0, its being developed simultaneously based on testing done in the EA platform.

That made me want to buy the game... still with a discount? :cleankey:

Honestly, I think the "problem" is that many small companies, making games for few people with content ... scarce? I do not speak of Astroneer; I know there are medium tones, but there is the eternal dayz or the sad telltales, I speak in general. If I knew that workshop are going to be implemented I would feel more safe in a certain way because the modders do amazing things, but chiefly I would like to see everything that the developers have to offer before seeing something of some modder. I do not see anything new in this game, and that generates uncertainty.

I have time until 19, I will try to find some official statement during that time.
