Work Lights!!!
You can now create work lights which sit on your backpacks shoulder mounts and provide 360 degree lighting. Cost 1 copper each. Worth it in the caves. Nice.

Oh, they don't light up on your base so you cannot create lighting it seems if underground. Havent' tried them on a rover yet.

Quick followup, the lights do work on a rover and will work on the platform but not on a node. Love these. Copper has a great use now and I am harvesting all I can find.

2nd followup, likghts dont' work on the platforms. I could have sworn it light up when placed on the platform. But when I did that again, nothing. Still have at least three, two for the astroneer and one for the rover is useful.

Put some yellow power nuggets on the base, they'll light up whilst it's there. Obviously if you use something the power will be absorbed, otherwise get some wind turbines and they lights will work as well.

Yep just discovered myself. BTW, have you have a storm yet???? Make sure you button down everything loose, even reserach blocks just starting flying away. Took awhile to recover all the research and the compound.

this work light doesn't seem right at all to me. a work light is something to take to a work site and place down to provide a great amount of light.

these lights do neither of those things. honestly the tethers prior to this patch did a better job as a work light.

they should restore the tethers to the previous lighting state and make the work light MUCH brighter, and semicircular, and standalone. take the light off a rover for example and make it a standalone object which can be placed down and connects to tethers for power and/or has a small battery to run for 5 mins before recharging via tether/backpack.

I think they could solve both problems by just making the work light act as a tether when put on the ground - make it super bright. I'd rather not bother trying to power it otherwise - some other type of light, like a directional light might be nice.

I like this idea of work light being turned into a tether or maybe just attached to a tether to provide even more light.

I've never found the lack of lighting to be a problem and so while it's a nice addition, it's hardly very useful I find. That being said, it's a far better idea to apply it to a free slot on your terrain modifier than on your shoulder slots.

You can also put your worklight on the terrain tool slots and it works as the previous poster screenshot shows. The small power thingies work on the terrain tool too, just not as well as you'd want.

I usually put the light on my terrain tool, Tanks or batteries on the shoulder slots for easy viewing. Just depends on what I'm doing.
