Help With Paver

I can't figure out how to use the paver effectively. I've learned that pressing the X key on my keyboard activates it but whenever I move forward it seems to pave a road that extends upward. Is there a way to get it to just pave a level road across the surface of the planet? The controls for it seem very awkward and I haven't figured out how to use them.

You can controll where your paver is paving with the camera.
I would personally recommend using a combination of drill an paver to get good roads.

Thats why i dont even bother with the paver. Takes too much fuss to try and make nice clean straight roads that conform to the planets surface. I'm trying to make a highway, not a skyway ffs.

I like using a controller when i play, and the precision is even worse when trying to adjust the camera constantly, when compared to m/kb.

I end up just using the drill, and make tunnels that follow the cardinal directions, so i can keep the surface prestine of the mess the paver results in.

It's just a nightmare to use....don't try to create level roads with it. The fact that it's tied to your camera view, which isn't 1st person while in a vehicle for some freakin reason, is just stupid. It's fine for driving to the core or trying to get out...but other than that, forget it.

What the paver would need is to snap to certain degrees and stay locked to the gravity and the position the paver was turned on (important or you get a skyway) direction than maybe a little more use would come out of it ... but not to the shaky camera.

I always use a large rover and put a paver and a drill on the front with a (full) container somewhere on the vehicle. It gets tricky sometimes making it level and/or smooth but I find it easier than trying to drive a vehicle around terrain obstacles.
