Controls..
Having painfully watched the polygon playthrough of the game.

Can we get an advanced list of the controls of the game?
ie which keys are used in default.. and what they do?
Possibly a controller screenshot and keymap?

I know we can:

Raise Terrain. - RMB
Lower Terrain. - LMB
Suck up resources, whilst lowering terrain. - LMB (hold)
Pick stuff up off the ground and move it around. - LMB (hold)
Pick stuff off your backpack. - LMB on your backpack
Put it onto your backpack. - LMB, hold, drag into your backpack
Click buttons on printer to make stuff or click the arrows to select blueprint. - Obviously LMB
Enter/Exit the toilet. (escape pod/shuttle) - TAB
Enter/Exit vehicles, seats, ships etc. - TAB
T to drop the Tethers
LMB to grab and drag the platforms?
Sprint Key?
Exit Deformer. Select Deformer.
Jump - Space?
Open/Close/Zoom to Backpack -
Change default keys? Numpad?
Xbox version move camera independently?
Pc/Steam version camera snaps to over the shoulder view?
Menu - Esc?

To be honest, I don't want to be standing there next to my podule.. on my own.. thinking WTH do I do now.. and then making a stream of me doing this and my very few subscribers laughing at me.

I am pretty sure the controls will be really easy to understand (Polygons demonstration aside).

Let me share my guess with you:

Raise Terrain. - RMB
Lower Terrain. - LMB
Suck up resources, whilst lowering terrain. - LMB (hold)
Pick stuff up off the ground and move it around. - LMB (hold)
Pick stuff off your backpack. - LMB on your backpack
Put it onto your backpack. - LMB, hold, drag into your backpack
Click buttons on printer to make stuff or click the arrows to select blueprint. - Obviously LMB
Enter/Exit the toilet. (escape pod/shuttle) - TAB
Enter/Exit vehicles, seats, ships etc. - TAB

PS: That's based on what I've seen on streams, gameplays and what I assume is the most logical choice for the layout. Keep in mind that taking a look at the controls (assuming there's an option for that) prior to your playthrough could answer all those questions easily.

Please don't base any sort of opinion off Polygon. They don't know how to play video games. Google their Doom video. It is just dreadful.

Hehe, I watched the vid on astroneer, one didnt stop talking the other didn't stop giggling.. I was climbing the walls..

I was also wonder if the keypad will be useable to change keys to or blocked, like it is in some console ports. Or Reserved.. as it usually says, guess that we'll find out on the 16th.

T to drop the Tethers
LMB to grab and drag the platforms?
Sprint Key?
Exit Deformer. Select Deformer.
Jump - Space?
Open/Close Backpack -

T to drop the "thingies" right on the edge of my mind... nope lost it. The things that you can build a line of that supply oxygen etc.
LMB to grab and drag the platforms?

It's extremely likely that anything you can move or grab will be grabbed with LMB. I kinda went through how the controls most likely work over and over. Which is why I think they are very easy to understand. Not to mention the game is supposed to be played by children as well. Can't really make the controls a kind of rocket science then, right?

Or imagine the controls kinda like using your desktop. There you drag around things holding LMB as well.

My grandkids can do things on iphones I can't.. kinda like an opposite role here.. 3+ doesn't necessarily equate to 50+

Well, of course we can turn it the other way around, too.
But let's just say the controls will be easy enough for everyone (who is still capable of understanding "new" things). I'd be lying if I say I have a proper view on that myself, since I am pretty much in the middle of that. I have plenty of experience which I can apply and I my ability to adapt to see new things is still fine as well.

If we take anything from the Polygon video lets take the fact that there is a tutorial that will teach us to play the game. Just dont skip it haha.

I made myself watch it entirely.. I guess I must have done something terrible in a past life, that I needed such a punishment.

Hold the Select button to see gamepad controls.

Ctrl to add terrain and Alt to flatten, changes the terrain gun when you hold the key down
Q for backpack
Shift for sprint, can still sprint while holding an item like a researchable pod but not jump.

For putting tethers back onto the pack the game defaults them to the top left corner even if it's full or has another item in it so useful to do a spot of juggling from time to time to avoid losing tethers.

Zooming out the orbital view for interplanetary travel is clicking on the orange button then selecting new planet within the range. Note planets are not always in range all the time due to orbits so might take a bit of time.
