It is still convenient for resources as the Drill pumps every mined resources directly to the storages on the same vehicle. So no more resource pick/drop between the Backpack and other larger storages every 5-9 resources. If you place it on a large rover together with a large storage with 4 med storages and possible 2 more at the back it can pump 6 medium storages full of resources before you are forced to manually intervene, e.g. to another large rover connected.
EDIT: An no Backpack Energy is used, which makes it sometimes easier, especially with Drill Mods.
While technically it does fill canisters, it seems like it takes a LOT more dirt to fill the same amount of canisters the terrain tool will fill using the boost + wide mods.
*EDIT*
I think its bugged. I just dug out a massive resin spawn and I got 6 things of resin.
Something is definately wrong, and I don't recommend using it.
*EDIT 2*
The front mounted drill fills canisters really fast, and seems to work well for making roads. The main thing is to start off a road using the alignment tool to get something completely flat, then the rover will continue going straight.
In fact, it actually works really well, except for the wonky horrible camera. :(
*EDIT 3*
I made a train of large rovers, but using the drill attachment only fills canisters on the first 2 rovers. Weird but whatever...
