Anyone have a good way to get my medium rover back to my base from the core?
So, medium rovers and drils don't go well... In my base on Novus, I put an RTG and a drill on my medium rover and tried to drill a hole. I now know never to use drills on medium rovers. I was lucky enough to have already activated the core and have a piece of graphite to package up the RTG, but now my rover is sitting in the core with no power. Anyone have a good idea to get my rover out of the core without digging? I also know that I can't just package it and leave with it. It's too big and can't fit in my backpack.

No good ideas here other than trying to make a bridge all the way from the side walls to the core, and no rover is worth that effort, unless you just want to try for fun.

Save the RTG, and dynamite that rover! :steamhappy:

My suggestion would be to build another rover, pack and store the old one on the new rover and drive back up.

If you're at the stage to build a RTG you're better off writing off the rover and building another

If you really want it back
Get rover + front mounted drill, lots of soil cannisters
Drill, dig and build a ramp staircase down to the core
Drive rovers up ramp back to the surface
This can take quite a long time (I did it on every planet...); building sacrificial rovers you yolo to the core is easier and faster

Bring a winch, spear the rover, carry the winch in hand with rover in tow to where you can drive it back.

A tractor (drill) plus trailer (RTG) is the smart way to get to the core. When you're done, package up the drill and RTG and leave the tractor at the core for oxygen, if and when you come back/pass through.

I did rescue a rover by building a ramp down to the core once. It took hours. Now I know the Smart Way™.
