Center alien structure, need help

Im currently digging to find the center alien structure on the starting planet. Any tips on how to locate it? Im currently digging below one of the surface structure and have gotten so far down I got the achievment for digging deep. But I still cant find it. Should I listen for a sound? Is there a beam like on the surface? Any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

I thought it would be difficult to locate as well, but you literally just have to go down - as the man said, "follow the gravity down".

If you're using tethers you have to be careful not to fall when you hit a new cave system. There are five cave layers before you hit the core. Watching this might help.

I take a zig zag back and forth type of approach to digging the ramps.

That said, the closer you get to the core, the less gravity effects you, so the more you float, the closer you are.

Also, you can get tricked. If your digging a ramp, and then that ramp seems to gradually straightens out you've likely passed over the core.

If your really having a bad time, you could always just put the terrain tool under your feet and dig straight down, get to the core, and then dig yourself a ramp to get out.

If you only care about getting to the core to activate it and you have the resources for it, put a drill mod on a vehicle and just fall down to it. make sure to activate a surface portal first so you can either come back to the surface, or you can plan to die down there, leaving a tractor there for O2.
