Small Printer in Tutorial

I seem to be unable to print the Solid-Fuel Thruster in the tutorial. I have the Small Printer set up. I connected it to the Shelter just in case it needed power. I have the Amonia and Aluminum needed to make the Thruster and they are both on top of the Small Printer. The Small Printer is showing the hologram for the Thruster. And my current objective just states "Print a Solid-Fuel Thruster from the Small Printer."

Every key I press doesn't interact with the printer in any way. Am I just being an idiot here or is this a bug?

Also, my game has a prompt telling me "Your backpack is full. Remove unneeded resources to make space." when all I have on my backpack is the light and nothing else.

Really hoping this isn't a sign of things to come when I start to play this game again. I had a ton of fun in the beta.

Printing is weird until you get the hang of it. Point to the printer with your multitool and press/hold F. It will open and allow you to choose what to print. If you have the needed materials on your back, then will autoload. You should notice a small box in the lower right that glows green. Click once to lift the transparent lid and then again to print. If you want to make multiples and have the resources in your backpack or on attached storage, you can just keep clicking the green button to keep printing. It is a little odd at first, but the muscle memory forms quickly.

I've sometimes gotten a bug where I won't be able to print an item because the print button is missing. What I found works is plugging the printer in question out and in again. For larger printers mounted on platforms, you might try removing them from the platform and putting them back on again.

And strictly speaking you don't really need to have the materials on the printer itself. Just in your backpack is fine.

I had this issue in the tutorial, including the full inventory message. I ended up just making another printer and that one worked.
