Portable Oxygenator is a HUGE let down!!!
So I finally managed to get everything together and crafted a portable oxygenator and boy was I disappointed when I did.

It consumes a prodigious amount of power so I'm still reliant on carrying consumables around with me, either power cells or small batteries. Or be stuck to a tether which defeats the object of a portable oxygen source.

Considering the abundance of resin on every planet it's better to just craft oxygen filters and / or stick with a vehicle.

When you factor in the absurd research point cost and the amount of effort it takes to build the infrastructure and gather the necessary materials to create a nanocarbon alloy, the portable oxygenator is a big let down and a bad joke!!!! It should be power free like the full size oxygenators and vehicles.

It's complicated by the fact that the full size oxygenator can provide oxygen across a planet without needing a single watt of power. That screams bad balance to me.

you can have all the opinions and letdowns you want, but try basing it on facts. but no, you want to base your opinion on doing it wrong, blaming someone else, and not listening when people try to tell you how to do it right. congrats, you not only failed to solve the puzzle out of sheer assumption and stubborness, but now qualify as a professional game critic

I use a boost mod and a wide mod with a small oxygen tank and a small battery. My power source is a small generator. One organic gives me enough power for several refills of oxygen and keeps my battery topped up while I mine or deform terrain nonstop.

There are people on both sides of the fence on this. Your original point doesn't stand for those of us who have figured out ways to use the PO sensibly and effectively.

My post in no way invalidated your opinion. I understand that for you and many others the PO is a let down, as stated in the op and backed up by others who feel the same way. But 'the rest of us' have valid opinions as well and our understanding of the game and it's balance in the current state seems to be a better adaptation to the challenges the game throws at us.

There are always things in games I would prefer to be another way. For example as previously stated in this thread, why can't I use C/V to turn the oxygenator and generator on and off without putting the terrrain tool away? For me issues like that are far more important for good gameplay than a dev induced mechanic that forces me to adapt and take advantage or be forever frustrated.

Nice to see some decent and interesting discussion here without people trying to put each other down and take each other apart.

It takes less than 1 bar of a small battery to fill up an entire oxygen tank, so 8 full tanks with 0 recharging, a wind generator on your shoulder is probably enough to make it infinite as long as you toggle it on and off. I don't get what people want from it? I just finished the entire game without ever using a tether and I thought it worked just fine.
