What happened to all the random debris?
Old spaceships?
Destroyed bases?
Anything?

All I find on Sylva is research containers and occasional buggy/medium platform. Large platforms are really rare.w

I think maybe you just got a bad seed.
I've started 3 games since v1.0 and all had large debris around.

I miss the big solar panels. They were such a prize.

Similar experience here, and the even random distribution seems weird too. What were these previous Astroneers trying to *do* with all these small turbine platforms attached to nothing? Two or three larger concentrations of ruined habitats, landing pads and machinery would be better for immersion. Individual debris out in the field should be vehicles.

And then I found two broken solars almost in one spot.
Yeah, RNG is a bit of a mess.

The pyramid shaped pods are not interesting to me. Too much dead time wasted opening them for a small reward.

They're actually not a bad reward if you take them back to the researcher. 1000 - 1500 bytes on Sylva, multiple thousands on other worlds.

wait what? Pyramid pods (one you have to unlock with energy/resource) tend to have a small scannable worth ~450 bytes for me. Only one I've seen it give a meduim scannable, and it was on exotic moon.

Scanning by hand gives about 1/3rd of what a research module will give you. Anything scanned by hand can be tossed in a research module for about 3x the data, minus all the energy needed to do it.

Yeah the new wrecks aren't particularly interesting. The old SEA wrecks, including the large wrecked spacecraft, felt much better done than this.

That's a nice info, wasn't aware of this. I did bring couple of large units from a different planet, they where 7.5k each and I didn't bother getting research after that.

For me most research stuff is just clutter, that I would like to get rid of somehow, after I've unlocked everything there is to unlock. There's just over saturation of those pyramid pods, they are freaking everywhere, don't like them, I would rather have them not be in the game, because there's already a ton of plants, that give research "flowers" and a if you pay attention, then the 2x2x2 research blob items are also everywhere you go, very common.

As for the debris, I have encountered clusters of base platforms (4 and more) side by side, in the deeper caves of the planets you can encounter even workstations on the platforms (most of the time broken though). 1.0.4 has more wrecks than any other previous version had, I only wish there was a way to salvage the bigger wrecks somehow.

Always just small platforms with the remains of a power system on them, though. What was it powering? Previous versions had wrecked elevated landing pads, habitats, and large platforms with damaged research cradles, smelters etc gathered together like the ruins of an actual base. They're used in the trailer for this version, but not in the game. (1m16s)

you can still find them, I have one powering my base currently, I've found a ton of debris underground and I think 3 giant solar panels above ground

Depends on what you had to do ultimately if it was worthwhile or not. Charge it ones are the easiest and most give an instant 300+ research credits. That to me is worth a small amount of effort.

Sylva, in general, doesn't have a whole lot of interesting stuff on it - probably because you're meant to branch out to other planets fairly quickly. That said, I did find a number of various ship/satellite wrecks around the surface, but they didn't have much of interest. I think the best stuff was several med wind turbines, one med solar panel and some small batteries. Was mostly medium storage.
