How do you use gateways or odd stones?
I activated a chamber on the starter planet, reveal its odd stone. Then I went to the desert planet and activated a chamber there. But I still can't use the odd stone there to go to the starter planet even though any information I can find suggests I should be able to as I have two active chambers on different planets.

What am I missing?

You need to activate multiple nodes (and/or the core) in order to use them.
For interplanetary travel, you need at least 2 planets with an activated core.
