Random terrain generation is both a blessing and a curse. =x
If you go to the exotic planet instead of the moon it's pretty much everywhere and you don't have to find very deep caves to get lots of it. Now, if you want titanium on the exotic planet, it's time for some serious digging again.
I'm talking I'll build a fairly steep ramp going down and I can slide on it at max speed for like 30 seconds+ before I get deep enough for the titanium. then it is everywhere.
It's easier to get that deep into novus just because, being a moon, it has a much smaller diameter. The core is much closer to the surface.
Now, the game really pushes you into going to other planets and gathering new stuff and then transporting resources between planets and I think this is a very good thing; I'm on my 3rd planet (terran -> exotic -> arid), I'm now trying to make landing platforms, a large shuttle and a hydrazine production station somewhere so that I can travel planets and move stuff around. It's going to be fun.
There is a planet where you can find Iron and Lithium (from the description, seems a good place to gather those extra large platforms to fill with batteries, solars and wind turbines.
