If Iron can only be found in another planets, what I doubt it, it's nonsense. I need it to progress even basic things.
And I said power cell, not batteries. You know, the thing that you craft from your nventory for a quick burst of energy? It's nonsense that I need to spend energy to refine sphalerite into zinc, then spend my own energy to craft a thing that last for a few seconds and that loose charge after the craft (cause it goes to my inventory). Used to be only compound, what would make it more practical.
Iron can ONLY be found on other planets. You can only find Aluminum, rare copper deposits, compound, resin, clay, quartz and a few other resources on the starting planet.
The game is NOT designed to be played on a single planet anymore, you have to go to other planets to progress.
(Copper is easier to find on other planets.)
You can build a small shuttle with what you have on your 'home' world, as well as single use boosters, and get to a moon or nearby planet. Make two; you're gonna want to come back.
Later, you can make multiple use boosters so you can fly all around in space as you please. And yes... it might seem like certain resources should be easy to find, but they changed it to encourage people to do more than build a massive base and get bored. You're a space explorer; go out and explore space.
I was also annoyed when I first found out you HAD to go out into space to get things you needed. But it's really just a matter of being brave enough to not worry about dying.
As for the alien structure. I haven;t done anything with it yet? But I wouldn't unless i was carrying things on my pack to set up a way to survive. You can craft items that allow platforms to provide air, and some of the smaller ones allow you to put them right on your backpack and bring them with you. My advice is to put a small platform, an air generator, and a small wind or solar generator on your pack before using the structure again. Don't bring anything else, until you're sure where you're going to end up, so you don't LOSE anything else if you die.
But my point is that there was no way to know what was going to happen. You have something new, you try it, and then kills you, cause was not clear. As I mentioned, that could work better, if the activated structures would have a safe area, similar to your base. What is the point of have something that can only teleport you, but then limit your survival because it's unsafe.
This is not the type of game that is meant to be punitive.
Although there is another stupid little thing that punish you since the alpha, and they didn't changed.
