best planet for a base?

built a base on barren but not sure which is the best one to build on

They are all relatively the same. Just keep respawning until you get a good starting area. Or whatever characteristic you are looking for.

tundra, exotic and radiated are quite balanced and each have their pros & cons. arid is considered the most difficult one. you should visit all planets, walk around for a while and see which one you like the most

I think I'm going to keep my main base/bases on Terran and build small task specific bases on the other planets.
On Barren I have a small base with three research chambers because of the large amount of reseach there.
On Tundra I'm planning to build a small base with a large rover and storage units to store the resources for iron and tungsten. Another similar one on Radiated for lithium.
Don't like Arid from what I've seen so far.
Haven't been to Exotic but with the plants there I will probably set up a small research base there.

the moon by defualt should be the first place you go. Make a base with three large platform B's carrying only solar pannels and three carrying medium batteries, add some windmills for security. once you have a base with more energy than you can want, mass produce like 8 research stations and make a train of rovers (as many of the largest ones you can make) and put large storage on all of them. use the rover at the back to hold 2 medium batteries and 2 solar pannels. then drive out, fill your rovers with researchable objects that can be found in groups of 3-4 above ground in the rocky areas on the moon, head back and set them all to research. Repeat. Do this until you've unlocked everything or at least everything you think you need, then enlarge your base.

Barren, the moon, is the best planet to build your massive base on. its right next to terran which you can use to packs massive amounts of basic resources back when you get a large shuttle, and full of researchable items and rich with alluminum which you can use to build shuttle seats, grind them and basically trade 2-2 large amounts of alluminum for materials you cant find on nearby planets. Therefore you wont have to leave much until you need gasses
