Best way to build bridges/ladders in caves?
Whats the best suggestion to get safely in and out of those giant holes in caves that go down to another cave system?

Is the only way to use the tool to dig a path into into it? Really hoping for a ladder or lift to make lol!

I usually just build a ramp down to the cavern floor and then widen it for use for a rover if that's what I'll need. The gradient should be 45 degrees or less to enable an easy climb for a rover with load.

Any tricks to build a ramp? I seem to suck horribly at it lol

Hold CTRL (or is it shift) to find a piece of ground with a steady slope downward and keep tearing away at the soil.

It takes patience, and if you use the wide mod you seem to get very craggy ground so you'll want to get rid of that. I think it used to be smooth with the wide mod but they broke it.

I think in general it's just practice makes perfect, just keep making ramps you'll get used to knowing which angle to pick. I made a vertical ramp earlier for extending power down from the surface.. boy was that fun to do.. nearly died a dozen times.. but go it working eventually. Ramps don't need to be perfectly smooth, in many cases you might want a 50-55 degree ramp, that you'll need to jump up to move up on, othertimes a more shallow 45 or 30 degree ramp for driving up/down etc. So just keep at it and you'll be making ramps galore in no time.

I typically dig the side of the hole until I reach the lower cave wall, then dig my ramp into the wall. Obviously, I take the backfill dirt and turn it into resources, so that's a plus, too. But yeah, practice makes perfect. Eventually, you just find a system that works for you.
