Imagine walking into your local store and asking the same question. Yep, you'd get the same response. Stuff has a price, pay it or leave.

But this is steam, quite a few people wait till something they want go on sale, hence why theres a wishlist.

There's prolly not going to be another Steam sale anytime soon. But Humble Bundle has 10 to 20% off every now and then.

I do walk into most stores and ask when the next sale will be .. especially on higher cost items.

Chances are summer, I don't think Steam will do Easter Sales... Still, I'd buy it now, it has a fair amount of content and it will have updates 100% sure, but as Martin said, stuff has a price, pay it or leave.

It's a fair question. If you don't know no need to harsh on them for asking. I put it on my wish list so i will get a notification when it goes on sale.

Guess it's a good thing I don't own a store. I'd "be rather unsympathetic" with anyone who walked into one of mine and demanded even cheaper prices. You obviously feel you must be special though, to buy stuff for less than anyone else.

Regardless of the wishful thinking of potential players and consumers, any developer or publisher has to receive an income in order to continue development.
This is one of the reasons many have adopted Steam's Early Access system. By using this, they get players to pay a nominal price for the privilege of testing their game while still in development. This therefore is not only a source of funding but also a valuable source of feedback.
Once a game is fully developed and leaves EA as a full version game, the sale price is in most cases likely to increase.
Discounting a game in seasonal sales is just a marketing tactic to prolong sales of a product and usually occurs after a game is more than 6 months old.
So, to expect a sale discount of a game while it is still in EA is very optimistic and a little naïve.
While there are some cases, where discounts of a game while still in EA have occurred, these are in the minority and when this has happened, it is a worrying sign of developers concerns for increasing it's consumer base.
I do not expect, therefore, to see any sale discounts for this game while it is in EA and I would be more than a little worried should that occur.

@OP if you wish to save your money, then buy the game now while it is still in EA or pay more for it when it is released, or wait until it is more than 6 months old after it's released. You have a long time to wait and save up for it, if that's the case.

Heh that reminds me... a long time ago, in a store far away...
I had a rather belligerent customer that demanded I give him a discount for the video recorder I was selling (yes kids, we used to record tv shows on video recorders before there was an internet). He insisted that I should reduce the price as another store down the road was selling them at the price he was demanding. I assured him that if that was the case, I would of course match their price. So, I got on the phone and called the other store. They told me the price they were selling the item for if they had any, but that they had no more in stock.
I related this to the customer, but he would not accept that since I was the only available source of this product in the area and my price wasn't bad at all, I would not reduce the price.
At this point, he started waving his cash at me and demanded to see the manager. I informed him that he was speaking to the manager. He left quietly.
He returned a few days later and laughed in my face by saying that he had found one a few miles away that had cost him $10 less than my store's price. I joined him in laughter and pointed to the now empty stack where I had already sold out of all of the video recorders that I had had for sale. I commended him for his saving and wished him a good day.
Ah the good ol days ;)

But I did inform you of that above without any toxicity.

First, wait for the game to be released and then wait a further 6 months before you can expect it to be discounted in any seasonal sale. That could well be a year or two at least away.

You guys don't have to turn everything into an unnecessary discussion, trying to make others aware of things they never asked for. And none of us has any solid information about actual discounts anyway. So time to close here, OP got more than enough answers by now...
