I have a friend with a really crap computer that lags like hell, but he can see things 2-3 times farther then i can running on a pretty beast rig... like, da ♥♥♥♥
well my PC is basicly a Beast for this game i know it can handle the max render distance and i cant even tell it to
But i think you cant fix that cause I think you need to be the host If your not host you will not be able to see far
After long hours session, I'm host from 70 drop to 50 and then drop to 30 even sometimes 10-20
I got I5 8400 50% load GTX 1050 TI 40% load
It's the game optimization that is still lacking, I hope they fix this soon

If you're leery of links, just look up 'any way to increase render distance of the terrain clutter?' from Daeburon (that's the OP for the thread), and they marked the specific post I'm linking as the answer to their question.
