Friends joining my solo game

Hey guys. So im new to the game. been asking lots of questions. im probably getting annoying by now so i do apologize. but im wondering. is there any way for me to set a solo game i intend on doing by myself to private so only i can play? All i saw was start new game so i assumed that was single player. since it wasnt in the co op section.

Just seems kind of annoying when im trying to do stuff and my friends just pop in out of no where uninvited. I mean it is cool they can join a game ive started already. but what about people who want to just play alone. I like my friends but i also dont like them messing up my base and taking my resources when im trying to do a single player game.

Youd think there would be a way to set it to just one player. but i dont see how. unless im just missing something

Nope there is no way to make a game solo only. Anyone on your friends list can join your game.

The multiplayer tab just lets you see your friends list and join a game if they have it running. There is no seperate solo only mode/multiplayer mode options. It is all one thing.

Just tell them that you want to play solo not to join.

you would think t they would have made an in game option to disable multiplayer for a specific game save file considering the way multiplayer destroys saves for a lot of people, making them unplayable even after everybody logs out. but no, theres no option to disable multiplayer at all let alone globally or save specific. youre only choice is to revolutionize the world...err i mean disable/unplug your internet.

can you at least kick people from the game if they join? cuz i want to play at some point with just me and a few other friends. i dont really want to chance one of my friends friends joining in uninvited if they also have astroneer. seems kinda dumb that you cant play solo. or choose who joins your game. i get its kind of a community building game in its respect but all games like this have the option to play solo or with a select group of friends. kind of strange this game is that intrusive

i think you can play solo if you restart steam in offline mode, but you may not get your special unlocked suits still, and you wont be able to invite anyone to play with you. also, blocking all communication with someone will not stop them from joining your game (just checked it 5 minutes ago). the only way to keep someone out of your game while allowing others is to actually unfriend them. this is lame that both steam and astroneer have no option to limit people. steam should have a "this session allowed" list so you can tell it who is allowed to join you for X amount of time or until you stop playing the game, then set list or dont next time. ill say it again, as buggy as multiplayer is, and has been fot the 2+ years i have been playing this game, it is surprising and disappointing that they couldnt take a day to allow us to limit our sessions. the way steam is set up, obviously people are going to have friends that may occasionally just randomly jump in their games, and in astroneer, that can ruin an entire game, effectively erasing all progress made. for the hundreds of hours I have put into saves in the past, this is mind-numbingly negligent. im sure if we suggest it now, theyll just say "wait for dedicated servers in a month" but it should have already been an option, the game is already 1.0 released, and there is no guarantee that dedicated servers will ever happen, let alone in a timely fashion and work correctly. have they even acknowledged a need for it? I havent seen it but im not omniscient, so just another disappointment to add to the pile.

Nope there are no controls to kick anyone that joins.
