But where? I put some Lithium (or however its written) in and I was just standing there like "what now?"

You put stuff on the little shuttle, then it shows you much you would get in return. You can select what you wanna get, for example you can trade copper for aluminum. To do so, put copper on the shuttle and select aluminum in the menu at the bottom of the tradeshuttle. It will show you how much aluminum you get for whatever you put on the shuttle.
