Laterite: Where Is It?

Title.

Where is the best place to find this stuff. Seems to be the only thing I cant really find.

Is it underground or on the surface? I've worked down in a cave system far enough to reach the spikey plants. Do I need to go lower, or higher?

Usually it's underground, no idea if theres a specific depth. I've just found Hydrazine on the surface though (on a flat plain), which I so far believed to appear only underground. I've also found a spikey plant in a cave inside a mountain, above surface height. Even if there are certain guidelines, it appears there can be variation.

Alright, I'll keep looking around in caves.

Been finding lots of copper and hydrozine, even coal. No laterite yet though.

Also you can build trade post then grab some Laterite with trading if you really cannot find them in quantity.

I would do this, as I have hydrozine out the ass, but I need one more aluminum to build the Trade Platform...lol

Another way to find presious metals, is to salvage the crashed ships.

Thanks for the help all. Found the last piece of Laterite that I needed for my Trade Platform.

Have since colonized the next planet in my reach.

Currently trying to decide if I want to go to this exotic planet that comes in range fairly regularly, or this Irradiated planet.

I really like the lower gravity on the smaller planets. Have almost died several times from running out of oxygen just running and jumping all over the place lol.
