multiplayer question

ok I have been playing what I thought was a single player world but then from out of nowhere some random dude is in my world and greeting me which got me in a bit of a panic because
he could destroy my house that took ages or steal my stuff that I have left lying around in my base.
got a few questions

1) can ppl log onto other peoples worlds and destroy bases/steal items?
2) how do you chat to players? I just know emotes #1,2,3,4
3) can u make the session private?

1. Right now, probably. The system is acting a bit weird, but usually only friends are supposed to join. They could mess a bit with your base and hide resources (they can't really steal them), but that's it.
2. Use the Steam chat. Astroneer is supposed to be played with friends right now (that may change in the future).
3. If you want to be solo for certain, you could play the game using the offline mode of Steam.

1) sort of, they can't really destroy your stuff but they could take your resources and disappear or take any of your modules such as solar panels, wind turbines, etc and run off into the wild with them

2) no in game chat at the moment, i'm sure it's on their to do list...or not idk

3) don't be online or make your profile private so only your friends could join i suppose other than that i'm unsure

Thanks, The dude defintely wasnt on my friends list, although he did send me an invite afterwards .
I am worried that they might take rare resources like lithium.. I loss a battery and I wonder if it was them...

lol lithium being a rare resource, just grab all the research stuff you can find and eventually you'll have too much lithium and titanium, hell you'll get so much it's annoying

yeah.. i started up a game i was playing last night to find my rover and resources gone. Then i started a new game and some random dude showed up. Not on my friends list. But he was nice, and I did add him to my friends list! But point is he wasn't before. Also you can use steam chat (shift+tab) to talk to people on your friends list.

I think I could be that dude. :) But I had good intentions. The problem is that everyone can join our game, even a man not present on our friend's list. Greetings, and don't be afraid. :D

its great that YOUR intentions were good :D ..but the next random dudes might not be :(

I'm still new to all this.. is there something I can unlock/make - like a storage locker/doors/gates/trip-wire bombs/burgular alarms! :) to add a bit of security?
