How or where to find Coal?

Stupid question yea but as ive been playing over 5 hours now I have not for the life of me find anything of coal form which I need. So where or how to get hold of it? thanks

Try Trading Post.

So thats the only way then, to build a trading post? I thought Coal at least would be around the planet as a pickup

Zueljin went to the radiated planet and found coal as pickup and astronium mining around. So if you're not prepared to leave the planet, you should use the trading post to get coal.

you got to be kidding you need materials to make it that aren't even on the starting planet now.

More then 90% of the research capsules require it to just open them to get points to unlock items you need.

Coal doesn't exist any more. It was replaced with Carbon, which is made by putting Organic in a Smelter.
