After 1 hour of play during a 201 game, I unlocked the following in order:

At this point I stopped playing because I had already tested everything I had wanted to see and discovered some interesting bugs. As for the research, it seems fine to me. I know where to go to get more augment tech and I had already spelunked to the deep caverns and so there would be plenty of research material to be found I'm sure.
Research isn't as easy as it used to be, but it's not exactly difficult either. It just requires a little more work to acquire. I have no complaints and as you can see, I can research the required tech to reach the other planets within 1 hour of play.
Be patient, work harder and you'll be fine... or take a break and wait for the devs to revise the research system.
