question about giant solar panels
is it worth trying to find one for my base? is it at least twice as good as the panels built in the printer?

By the time you find and drag it back you could build several pods and stick in solar panels. I usually have at least a dozen.

wait...wat? You can drag those huge solar panels back and attach to your base???

Buddha you have a shot of your base? Do you have more than 6 stations ? Curious as to why you have so many panels built? How many batteries do you have?

I find three or four solar panels and three wind collectors, together with a few batteries, are more than enough to power pretty much any base. However, if you're doing something silly like building 30 fuel condensers, then yeah, you might need more power.

I've dragged a panel back to the base but it's a pain in the ass to position properly.
Managed to get it working though but at this point I have like 10 batteries, 15 stations etc so it wasn't really worth it. Maybe if you've just started it'll help a lot.

I find the turbines to be crap at this point. They crank in one position on your base but if you move them one position over, they stop...Im on an open world planet...
I love watching the duststorms sweep in and my turbines are frozen solid.
Reread that last sentence one more time. With that said, I find solar panel farms are best atm

It seems like the normal solar panel fills 1 bar in 2 seconds while the giant solar panel fills 1 bar in 1 second.

I needed a lot for this base, being underground. At least a dozen solar panels and half a dozen batteries.

If you want to excavate beside your base, you need unlimited power. Without a large supply you will runout before dawn. My original base is directly above where I'm standing. Then I dug down to make a new base. I made another one on the other side on top, and, after circumnavigting the planet I made a new base on the other side of the planet, as far away as possible from my original base. Now I've started one on the Exotic planet, which involves ferrying supplies in my spaceship.

With how many fps are you playing? If I build to much my fps drop like a mic in a rap battle

Even lower. My main savegame has about 12-13 fps. It takes all the fun away and leaves me the only option to start from the beginning again.

Giant solar panels? wait, what?
loser cat 10 ENE 2017 a las 8:05
you can usually find them near your base
Lil Puppy 10 ENE 2017 a las 8:46
The Terran world has over 20 of those giant solar panels (that's what I counted and I haven't finished exploring 50% of that world yet).

All things have a maximum recharge rate they'll accept, beyond that excess energy flows past them to other things.

Power Rates:
Giant: 1 bar = 1 second.
Large: 1 bar = 2 seconds.
Small: 1 bar = 8 seconds.

Don't dig them out of the ground until you have a winch handy.
Drag it back to your base, make sure the shiny side is up (the connector will be up as well).
The back side of it doesn't collect sunlight so don't try to make it stand up vertically.
Lay it as flat as you can on the ground so it gets sunlight from dawn till dusk.
Get it as close to an extension pod or other connection point as you can while being able to get a rover/truck between them.
Adjust the height of your rover/truck as necessary to make the holographic connection, then connect them.
Bury your bridge rover so it doesn't get disconnected in a storm.
Hopefully the Giant Solar Panel will lock into place, if it doesn't reload the save or restart the game.

and how much power does having one connected equate to?
ie how many printer created solar panels you think makes one of the large ones?
