Whats your resulution? With that fps not much, I would expect a 10%-40% gain. In best case it could be above 40fps.

You could wait for the AMD 560, will be released next month and should be cheaper than the 1050Ti and at least as fast as the TI

Wait for next month, AMD 560, look at some benchmarks and price and decide then. The 1060 should give a nice performance boost, but Im not sure how much you want to spend.

560s are already on amazon, specs look worse than the 280.

so the 1050ti is a good choice for a $150-$175 Budget?

At that price, you might try to find a RX 470 or 480 on sale.

Is that better than a 1050Ti though?

the ti is. It's almost as powerful as the 1060 3gb.. the 1060 is still "alot" better. But the gains on avg are only 10-20 fps depending on games, the gains in textures and in general aren't really that significant, to warrant spending an extra 60-70bucks.

That said, I just got the Rx470 8gb OC version for £160. So if you hunt around, esp now that there's even newer hardware coming out, you'll probably be able to get a 1060 6gb card for around 170-190, you just need to hold back on spending and wait for the oppurtune moment.

You don't want to buy a 1050ti now.. then find out next week that you could have gotten a 1060 for the same price.

The nv GTX 1050ti, 1060 3/6gb or even the 1070.. are all good cards, very powerful, but Nvidia sacrifices textures for power.. now if you like your games to look good.. power isn't as important. The texture output on the Rx 470/480 is significant over the 1060/1070, about on par to the 1080. Which is over 150 bucks more.

Personally I want my games to look good, getting that extra 10-15 fps, just isn't important.

You can play most games at 30fps.. and above 60.. it's actually pretty hard to tell if there's any real difference. It's only when you're spending 1-2k dollars/pounds on 4k tvs/monitors and VR systems.. that you really only actually need a 1080+ If you're using 1080p.. it really isn't worthwhile.

And if you're going for a 1070/1080 then you'll want the new cpu which properly supports dual monitor output, then you'll want a proper 27" + monitor on 4k standard.. probably even a curved screen.. you'll also be looking at buying a decent high end mechanical keyboard and a decent mouse.. which will put you out 200-300 bucks.. then it's worthwhile. But if you're on a budget, using a 1080p tv/monitor, which can only output 60-62fps.. you're actually wasting your time getting the 1070/Rx480/1080 cards. You'll never use them to their capability.

well i have a gtx 970 with an i7 7700k and i get around 60fps.

Yeh a decent cpu and motherboard and a mid end vc is probably a better way of spending your cash.

The funny thing is, people go on about cards like the 1080, but even at 350$£ it's actually still only a mid end card. You can get video cards for 4-5k each that are much better hardware.. but at that cost.. you have to expect it.

So the 1050ti and later get a better CPU and motherboard?

If I was you and your budget reaches only as far as the 1050ti.. then get it. I'd also suggest another 8gb of ram, matched to your current 8 ram speed.

Your cpu is plenty for the 1050 and it's more than enough for 90% of games. People who buy i7's.. don't need i7's.. an i5 is plenty. The Fx770k is a good enough mid range cpu that'll last a good few years yet. Also the 770k is unlocked and can be safely overclocked and it uses alot less power, so cheaper bills.

Oh and make damn sure your motherboard will support either amd or nvidia.. cos if it's an amd only cpu/vc.. buying a 1050 will be a huge let down when it refuses to run it.

Well my pc is a prebuilt pc and it has a manufacturers motherboard that doesn't support overclocking... but the reviews of the product that I own say people are putting nvidia cards in there... so does that mean it will work?

Of course you can exchange the GPU as you please (It's PCI-e after all). Just be sure your PSU is able to provide enough power for it.

i have a 280 watt psu but i have a radeon r9 360 oem but it has a tdp of 85 and the 1050ti has a tdp of 75. would that be enough? im not planning on overclocking it
