Tradewinds Caravans

Pulled from Steam?
Growing up I was a big fan of the Tradewinds series. Even if it was never perfect, I remembered seeing it on Steam, but can't seem to find it anymore, and I don't seem to be able to buy this. Were the games pulled?

Yeah, the developer died a very long time ago, as did the next two companies who owned their assets. Their games were delisted here several years ago. I believe Shockwave.com is one of the last places that still sells most of their lineup.

Dang, well that's a shame. I checked and Wild Tangent games seems to still sell them, but I lost my password to that account Years ago..

Yeah, they're another option. I mentioned Shockwave because WildTangent only allows games to be activated a limited number of times, while Shockwave has no hard limit. Their system only gets suspicious if there are too many activations in a short period of time.

If I recall, those limits only exist if you haven’t purchased the game. I think it was like, an over complicated beta test. Try out the demo, or try the entire game without paying X-number of times.
I say overcomplicated, but thar’s actually pretty simple.

No, I wasn't referring to the free trial periods. Those exist for just about all casual game storefronts.

I definitely recall being notified by WildTangent years ago that I'll only be able to activate the games I buy from them a total of five times. When I say activate, I don't mean play. I mean allowing a game to be played on a system without free trial restrictions. That can apparently only be done on a total of five systems and then never again. At least that's how it worked back then.

I think those were for full trials, but I don’t recall. All I do recall though was that mine was bugged, and let me play forever.

No, it literally told me this when I reactivated a game I'd bought in the past.

Well that would certainly be very dumb. I hope that's not the case.
