The game suddenly fails to load textures in detail
Earlier today i was able to play the game fine. However, after the definitive edition update (I did not own any of the dlc yet), the game suddenly fails to load detailed textures, and instead shows everything (except cars which look mostly fine) as a base character model.

To be honest, it gives the game a pretty unique cel-shaded look, (looks a lot like the game Jalopy) but I would prefer to fix it.

Things i already tried:
-Reloading save
-Quitting and restarting
-Starting a mission (the cutscene looks fine, though it might be prerendered? After the cutscene the game resumes in all its low detail glory).
-Changing graphics settings
*-verify game files

Has anyone experienced this since the update , or does anyone know how to fix it?

I havent played for a while, but i am asking myself if the textured were this bad before?

Yes I got this too, only on certain models and in certain conditions. A car for example would have its textures blink in and out of existence.

UPDATE: I have tried veryfing the game files, steam had to redownload 3 files in my case. This has entirely failed to fix the issue, though.

All of my textures fail to load after 21gb download.

I've also got this 'feature'. I get a popup when I open the game saying that my computer doesn't meet the minimum specifications for the game, despite having played it without a problem earlier on today and previously. Even on minimum graphic detail it runs as if in slow motion and is entirely unplayable. Oh, and I'm running an Area 51 Alienware laptop which is easily beyond the spec of this game.

the game looks like that on lower settings thanks to the definitive edition that added tons of visual bugs and issues

I have the same problem. And even with this bad graphics level, I still have CPU usage 100% and the game is like freezing constantly for a short time. Very annoying and makes the game almost unplayable... I have Intel i5-4670K@3.40GHz and GTX1060 6GB

I had the same thing happen to me. The new texture quality setting was on low when
I launched the game, but then switching it to high, that fixed the textures for me.

I have a i5 6600 (at 4.2Ghz), 8GB of DDR4 Ram and a GTX 1060 6GB card.

Great, thanks, that worked for me, too! :)

You'll have to that every time you launch. It's a bug, the game resets the textures to low on every launch.

I changed my gfx options to a preset, then back to how I had it.
The game runs, but the fps is unplayable.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Switching textures to high from the launcher fixed it. However, I think it now looks just like when i was running the game on low, before the update. Seems they might have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with the presets somewhere.

Also, like Flappy Pannus says, the game resets every time you quit, so you have to redo all the settings everytime. This also sucks as i have to put the game on fullscreen from the launcher every time, due to the game freezing when i try it ingame. Seems like yet another new bug.

Seriously, why is it that a lot of times when a 'better' version of a game is released, they introduce a lot of new bugs? They didn't even really change anything for Mafia 3, but with these obvious bugs it seems no one even tested it.
