Rendering Distance
I bought the game shortly after release, back then on rather mid-range hardware, so I had to turn down the video settings quite a bit. Got a new very-top-end system and wanted to try it again since I love the 60s theme... Graphics look totally washed out and upscaled (?) and the worst part is the rendering distance. Without exaggerating, cars spawn in between 3 and 4 car lengths away, streetlights get rendered at about the same distance. I don't really see a lot of people complaining about this, might it be a issue on my side?

Thanks

You can thank consoles for that one again.

So this is not my fault? If not that's a pity, I would love to play the game, but like that it's unenjoyable...

Besides your car thing the rest is intentional, not sure if you actually were exaggerating or not, but cars spawn okay for me, as in I can't see them spawn in front of me, I've got all maxed out besides shadows(medium) and motion blur off. They usually spawn as far as I can see.

The cars spawn, like I said, 15m away, when I pass them and look back I can see them basically as far as it goes, same for lights... Well, if a reinstall doesn't change anything I'll have to settle for sth else.
Thanks for your response!

For me, cars spawn a good half mile away from my location. Same with most other things like street lights.

On occasion, as in once or twice out in the bayoo, I did smash into an invisible light post, as it had not visually spawned but the collision was there. But for the most part, things spawn at distance on my machine.

When you say 'very top end system', what does that mean? If it is a laptop, they are not top end anything. Pre-build desktops can have issues with cheaper equipment. Just wondered about your specs.

That washed out and upscaled graphic is what I am hoping for to be fixed in Definitive. Let's see, downloading now.

Specs:
3900x@4.3
2080ti
32gb@4000
sufficent power

3440x1440 running at around 105-115 fps

It's not hardware based, you can trust me on that.

Are you talking about the update that came out just now?
20 GB is taking my hopes way up!! I'll report back once I get to play.

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. 4 YEARS FROM NOW AND THEY DID NOT FIX UPSCALING. STILL ON 1080p LOOKS LIKE 720p STRETCHED.

Glad to say that the update fixed my draw distance issue! What great timing for that!!
The game keep telling me my computer doesn't meet the specs to run the game. Except I put everything on high and game runs at 60. Textures keep resetting to low though. Most of the setting are not saving. I am getting texture pop-in though. Game still has issues. The updated TOS pretty much allows spyware activity.

There is more than hardware, there are drivers as well.

Otherwise, why would my wimpy machine:
Intel Core i7-4771 Haswell Quad-Core 3.5GHz CPU
XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5 Video
CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB RAM
CORSAIR RM1000X 1000W power

perform better than yours?

Believe me, a RX580 doesn't run 3440x1440 at 115 fps. Just watched a few benchmarks on max. settings at only 1080p with a 8600k (which is better than your 4771) and it only ran at 65 FPS.
All drivers at the latest version.
Every other game performing as expected and by the way I never claimed to have performance issues.
My main complaint just was fixed with the recent game update.

I did say my machine was wimpy compared to yours so why would you feel the need to benchmark mine against yours? But it is good the definitive edition fixed your issues.

He's right...

You see this a lot during the PS3/360 era of gaming on PC... Devs built this game for the base version of the ps4/xbone near those new consoles releases, so dev's didn't push it graphics as best they could have...

This game even had a 30fps cap on release & still runs horrid... Thanks consoles!
