Mafia 3 Issues/Fixes Needed [Bug Report]

This is a compilation of issues that are present in the PC port of Mafia 3. I will update this list with player suggestions and when any new patches are released.

Technical Issues:

1: MUCH more optimisation needed; I (and many others) cannot maintain even a steady 60 fps - (PC specs on Steam profile). 'Microstuttering' (frame pacing) is also an issue
2: Players are experiencing random crashes
3: The textures are very poor - blurry and low resolution (not even a texture quality setting)
4. Ultrawide 21:9 resolutions are not correctly supported (3440x1440 for example): the main menu is not correct, the blood splatter box is restriceted to 16:9 and the sides of the screen flickers - Some reports of inccorect HUD scaling however (16:9 HUD despite being on 21:9) - See here: http://i.imgur.com/sBSwRkn.jpg
5: The HUD does not scale correctly at higher resolutions
6: A 'Water Quality' or similar setting should be added
7: View distance sliders should be added - (seperate ones for shadows, objects, NPCs, ect)
8: There needs to be more antialiasing options as FXAA (or TXAA) is not great (makes it even MORE blurry - would like to see MSAA and MFAA (x2, x4, x6)
9: Toggles need to be added for certain effects such as chromatic aberration
10: Toggles should be added for HUD/UI elements (such as the rear view mirror)
11: Clouds day/night cycle is not working correctly sometimes (first its sunny, pops out some darkness and again back to sunny) - Please see this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcwTEkeTUpE
12: The extra mouse buttons cannot be bound (mouse 4, 5, ect)
13: Add SLI support
14: Support needs adding for AMD Phenom users ASAP - Crashes, ect. They cannot even get the game loaded - see video here for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fqvjt2-G80

16. Lack of Anisotropic Filtering (AF) (4x 8x and 16x) in the settings
17: Ambient Occulusion needs more clear settings (what kind of AO is being used? - SSAO? HBAO? HBAO+?)
18: Add full mouse support to all menus
19: A proper main start menu needs to be added - (with such things as load, options, exit, etc)

21: Unable to complete first 'Vito Hit' mission - game crashes when about to shot the target - now the gas station backroom is empty. Fixes tried: got Lincoln killed, did another side mission - nothing
22: Some vehicles spawn and explode in the road or while parked (most common when parked) - some times they clip into the floor and start to fly everywhere
23: The brightness seems to go ridiculously high at random intervals - see screenshots here for reference: http://i.imgur.com/DJgUGMZ.png and http://i.imgur.com/5DU2iid.png
24: More camera settings needed - for example: auto centering while driving should be toggleable on/off. Another example: a camera height setting should be added (high, low)
25: The AA setting keeps defaulting to 'High' after a game restart
26: No option to change refresh rate
27: Separate options for aiming/camera inversion and sensitivity should be added
28: No borderless fullscreen in the settings - needs adding

30: No sound from boats
31: Button prompts not appearing when using DS4/Steam Controller without third-party programs

34. An option to toggel mouse acceleration on and off should be added
35: Sometimes your car is found sunken into the ground and pops up when you enter
36: Key unkillable targets will slowly move back when punched while "downed". With enough punches, the target will go through the wall, and cannot be interrogated. An example is when you raid the warehouse where Nicki takes over later on. On the top floor office room where the target is, the player can punch him through the brick wall.
37: Add the option to turn off AA altogether
38: Add a sharpening (low, medium, high) setting
39: Vehicle headlights do not show in the rear view mirror
40: More sound options should be added (such as Stereo, 5.1 and 7.1)
41: Random infinite loading screens after cutscenes

Gamplay Issues:

1: Very bad AI. The AI do not seem to act how they should - enemies/cops/people doesnt react to your actions well - they can see you stabbing somebody and they still stand and wait for you to kill them too, or cops shoot you but after that they wait, or dont notice you killed somebody at all - even if its not from long distance. 2: NPCs often do not react to your car
3: The AI cars usually go in the opposite lane and start to go in circles.
4: The same tutorial messages pop up more than once (often they are not relevant to the situation)
5: Player's cars are not found where they last left them
6: There doesn't seem to be any way to save your game
7: The ability to replay missions should be added
8: An option to turn off the radio completely should be added
9: [Bug] - No boats spawn during the 'Are We Cool' mission
10: Some players are finding the 'Hard' difficulty not hard enough - maybe the addition of harder difficulties would be good
11: Add controller presets
12: Add multiple reticle options (such as a simple white dot)
13: Soms mission waypoints do not show - examples:
- Destroy Black Market Products
- Destroy Slot Maschines
- Bust Up The Street Games
- Find and Follow The Bagmen
- Find and Steal the Dead Drops
14: After completeing the main game, missions such as 'Steal the Truck' and 'Steal the Boat' are still shown on the map. There is nothing to steal at said points
15: A Vargas painting is unobtainable in the Casino after the Casino mission (cannot interact with the doors to get back in)

Other 'Issues':

1: No wildlife : Only see is alligators - (no birds, cats, dogs, rats, ect)
2: No train/tram even though there is a track
3: A lot of things cannot be climbed on, even if Lincoln can reach it. Example: A car was laying on its side - it was unclimbable
4: There's no fast travel or Taxi system
5: No bullet holes when shooting someone (only blurry, faint splatter)
6: No blood puddles when doing brutal melee kills
7: Bodies should remain ragdolls after death
8: The ability to close doors after they have been opened should be added
9: The option to either lockpick or break car windows should be added
10: The ability to purchase food from restauraunts should be added - Could be specific to each restauraunt/bar (each location has it's own kinds of food) to eat/drink to restore health
11: The police do not drop any weapons or ammo. This could be added
12: Add barbers around town so Lincoln can change his hair/beard style
13: Only doors that are locked are kickable; all doors should be (unlocked ones)

Please let me know what else this patch has resolved (if anything) so I can make futher changes. I will be keeping a close eye on the Steam Disscussions in the meantime

I'm having some sound issues. Sometimes I have no sound when firing guns and some of the explosive props (barrels and so on) doesnt make a sound when exploding.
Haven't played much, and already encountered those issues quite a bit so I thought I'll report it here.
As far as I can see, there are no audio options (stuff like speaker setup: stereo, surround etc.)

Gonna investigate further on my sound-issues and report any findings.

after the patch, the aim marker (little round with pistols and brackets with shotguns) is shifted to the right of the screen in 3440*1440. Impossible to aim properly.
when pointing the middle of the screen on an firendly NPC, the aim marker on the right will turn green.
the bullets go to the middle of the screen, only the displayed aim is wrong

Other resolutions like 2440*1440 are working "fine",
issue also present in 3440*1440 windowed mode

None of the "bug fixes and optimizations" fixed anything, the game still runs terribly when I used to have cut scenes run at 60fps drop to 15, and game still runs at max 15 fps

fps max 60, I get 45 - 60 fps, I try fps max 30, I get 27 - 30... WTF It's not all time 30 locked why down to 27 if with fps max 60 down minimum is 45?

Fix issue FPS drops for nothing.

I've actually decided to go ahead and get the game again so I can test it myself...

The main game is finished. There are still missions of "steal the Truck" and "Steal the boat". But the points on the map are nothing to steal.

im still stuck story wise. cant progress and im not starting again to see if its fixed. at least this is playable and doesnt crash like dishonored 2. had less issues with arkham knight. so kinda dissapointed.

These are the things I have encountered, if some of these are on the list, my bad.


* Random infinite loading screens after cutscenes had it twice already, one with VITO after killing some guy he wanted, and after I collected all the cars / boats and he told me he had Liver Cancer then was in an infinite Loop till I Alt + F4.

* Also experiencing hard crashes without any errors. Usually you'd see "Mafia 3.exe has stopped working, nope. Just hard crashes to desktop With nothing to tell you.

*AI still need improvement, specially cops, they don't react to 90% of things you do in front of them

* Wiretap bug - instead of clipping on the space provided when adding the wiretap, it just falls

* Need more car customisations - Give us options to Tune up our cars, increasing performance / drifting / grip etc. Allowing us to change colours of cars, Body Kits, Tire changes, Number Plate changes.

* A garage in all our safe houses (like with clothing) so we can store any car we like / steal.

* Allowing us to fix our cars when the Engine breaks (Mafia 2 had it)

* Why are grass undestructable? can't run over a bush or tree (WTF is this 2007?)

* More guns, More customisations for guns, adding silencers

* More Upgrades for Lincoln / clothing*

* Some cutscenes will still show Lincoln in his army jacket even if you changed it

* Give us a FREE DLC for "HD" Textures, allowing TRUE 1080p / 2k / 4k textures to exist, not upscaled rubbish that looks terrible.

* Allow us to disable rearview mirrior via settings, not using a third party program to do so.

* Allow users to increase LoD in game

* Allow more customisation to Lincoln himself, maybe allow us to purchase a house / apartment to customise him. Instead of changing his clothes in safe houses of our underbosses.

* Allow Lincoln to see Barbers for hair / beard customisations

* Being able to open / close boot and bonnet (mafia 3 had this) come on Hanger 13

* FPS improvement and stability, I have quite the PC (check my Steam profile) for no reason at all, even though I am at 55-60 fps 99% of the time, for whatever reason, i'll dip to 45-50 fps then bounce back up. ( been in I.T for 12 years and built my own PCs for 12 years, so it aint my computer)

* not a bug report, but Hanger 13 needs to be more vocal, WAY more vocal, at least their community manager on steam about updates, instead of saying "soon" give us a date, days, we waited a MONTH for this update and it was barely an improvement. Give us faith that the devs and community managers are in work with each other and giving their consumers faith in developers again. Don't be a Sean Murray with No Man Sky.
