Historically Accurate?

Is this game historically accurate? Will I be called names, kicked out of restaurants and hated for being a vietnam vet? Will the cops randomly pull me over and call me names. I would like it to be so.

or is this a generic GTA title where only the story bad guys treat me like garbage and the outside world is clueless of what year it is and how everyone should be acting.

well yes, yes and not exactly, the cops will not pull you over for no reason but they will call you name and look at you suspiciously, they'll shoot at you as soon as you do something wrong.

i know what you mean by generic gta title (clone) and this is not. narration, cutscenes and characters are really well done.

It's close. The game kicks off with a message about this. There are bars with "no colors allowed" and people will act negativly towards you for entering. People will call the cops on you just for being around them. Random pedistrians and cops will call you names. So targed hate for race, yes, targeted hate for being a vietnam vet, not so much in the time I played.

I was flabbergasted at the apologetic disclaimer at the beginning. What exactly are the developers apologizing for? You would never see a movie show something like that in the opening screen.

yes, but the gaming community is pretty volatile... just look at how it went with that 30 FPS "problem".

Yes and no you can't join them. Why and how would a black Person join the KKK seriously? as for the black Panther Lincoln Clay have his own fights and he's not racist.

I think that was more of a "we told you so", for anyone who complains, or argues the language or behavior in the game.

ah, I see your point. Though It would be cool to join both factions and take each other out or have side missions where both groups have someone with greater interest in mind and would hire anyone to take the other side out. Would love to see the mind set of both sides at war.

well that's not really the point in this game, the setting is in fact at a period of racial tensions and stuff. But it's really about the mob and criminal underworld. We shouldn't expect more than this and it's fine, i wouldn't have buy it if it was about a racial war or something.
